 | | December 09, 2009 NEW HIGH GRADE GOLD AND SILVER INTERCEPTS CONFIRMED AT BRONSON SLOPE DEPOSIT
|
| | Richmond, BC -- Skyline Gold Corporation ("the Company"), a company engaged in the exploration and development of its Bronson Slope porphyry style gold-copper deposit in north western British Columbia's 'Golden Triangle', is pleased to announce results of follow-on testing of selected drill core intervals from its 2009 exploration program at Bronson Slope that confirm the presence of high-grade gold and silver mineralization on the Snip-1 mineral tenure. The release of these test results follows the announcement on November 18, 2009 of high grade gold and silver composite interval assays.
The follow-on test work, consisting of screening for metallics and fire assays on 12 selected intervals on the SK-09-01 and SK-09-02 drill core, is used to confirm selected sample assays due to instances of native visible gold and electrum in the drill core from the 730 meter (m) drill program.
Of note, the analysis confirms hole SK-09-02's high grade drill core interval from 48.0 m to 75.0 m (approximately 24 m to 37 m vertical depth below surface, respectively) with assay data posted below. Included in this interval are sub-intervals of 1.85 meters grading 17.35 g/t gold and 204 g/t silver; 1.33 meters grading 20.20 g/t gold and 571 g/t silver, and 3.00 meters grading 12.30 g/t gold and 98 g/t silver.
Updated composite interval assays utilizing the new test data follow.
The raw assay data for the two drill holes can be viewed at: http://www.skylinegold.com/s/Snip1Claim.asp
The test results, confirming the new high grade gold and silver zone on Snip-1, will be followed by further testing including the use of gravity separation of selected complete intervals of halved drill core followed by fire assay. This will allow confirmation of prior assays because of the presence of native gold in the drill core. Testing will initially be targeted to intervals having elevated silver and antimony assays but lower gold grades than anticipated.
The 2009 drilling cross-cut the trend of mineralization that was identified on surface and is believed to dip nearly vertically. The drilling encountered assemblages with sustained widths up to 190m of massive, semi-massive and disseminated textured sulphides containing pyrite, sphalerite, galena, chalcopyrite and minor pyrrhotite with occasional instances of visible gold and electrum. This mineral assemblage is typical of occurrences that form in the haloes of porphyry copper-gold deposits; however, the high sulphidation character implies a "transition" to a separate mesothermal to epithermal style system. The host rocks are fine grained volcaniclastic sedimentary rocks.
The two holes, SK-09-01 and SK-09-02, were drilled from the drill pad established for hole 911 that was drilled in 1988. Hole SK-09-01 was drilled to 438 m at an azimuth of 011º to true north and a dip of -65º from horizontal. Hole SK-09-02, which steps-out to new ground to the east, was drilled to 291 m at an azimuth of 061º to true north and a dip of -55º from horizontal. The holes are located approximately 900 m south east of the nearest Bronson Slope deposit drill hole, on the "Snip-1" claim and on-trend with the Bronson Slope deposit.
